Authorization and Attendance
You will receive a Notice to Appear before
the Appraisal Review Board. The Notice and
the
Taxpayers' Rights and Remedies contain detailed information and examples of
the type of evidence you should prepare for your hearing. You may:
- Attend your hearing in person
- Authorize, in writing, someone to appear for you.
- Provide your written evidence or argument by affidavit.
An affidavit is a notarized document.
Attendance at your Hearing:
- Please be on time and prepared. Other cases have been
scheduled at the same time. You will be heard in the order of sign in.
- The Appraisal Review Board will decide such issues as
valuation, open-space, exemption and situs.
- Be direct, concise and factual.
- Your written materials to be submitted to the panel
must be provided to the appraiser before or immediately after the hearing
begins. The appraiser must do the same.
